EYLA Fall 2020 Programming Decision

Dear EYLA Families

 

I apologize in advance since this is a long email. After reviewing the IDPH guidance released last week and consulting with the Board and Program Directors we have decided that EYLA will not be offering programming in the Fall of this year. We do encourage kids and parents to get outside and practice their lacrosse skills, playing catch, catching on the run, passing on the run, shooting on the run and wall ball are all things friends and families can do together. (side note: if you don’t have an extra lacrosse stick you can use a baseball glove to run kids through backyard drills)

 

If you are interested in small group lessons (similar to the limited Summer activities some boy's participated in this summer) please sign-up at the link below and your information will be shared with some of our coaches who will be offering private lessons or clinics this Fall. Please note that these will not be EYLA sanctioned.

 

If you do choose to have your child attend private coaching, group lessons or clinics we strongly urge you to take important health and safety precautions recommended by public heath officials. Please self-screen your kids prior to each session and if you answer in the affirmative to any of the following questions do not participate in small group lessons or clinics.

Self-Screening Questions

  1. Does your child have any of these symptoms that are not caused by another condition?
    • Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache, Recent loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion, Nausea or vomiting, Diarrhea
  2. Within the past 14 days, has your child had contact with anyone that you know had COVID-19 or COVID-like symptoms? Contact is being 6 feet (2 meters) or closer for more than 15 minutes with a person, or having direct contact with fluids from a person with COVID-19 (for example, being coughed or sneezed on).
  3. Has your child had a positive COVID-19 test for active virus in the past 10 days?
  4. Within the past 14 days, has a public health or medical professional told you or your child to self-monitor, self-isolate, or self-quarantine because of concerns about COVID-19 infection?

 

Additionally please keep in mind that kids should adhere to the following guidelines during private practices/clinics

  1. Wear a mask at all times
  2. Socially distanced Practices - a minimum of 6 feet between participants during activities
  3. Individual Water Bottles or beverages - socially distanced water breaks.

 

Trust me, as the Father of 3 current High School athletes I know how frustrating this is on all of us, kids, parents, coaches, everybody. However, after consulting with medical and public health professionals, if we want to have any chance of returning to some semblance of normalcy in the Winter and Spring we need to do our part in tamping down the virus today.
